We use indigenous alder, beech and poplar timber for our wooden shoes. The nature of the design determines which wood is used.

Alder

Alder timber is medium-heavy, yet simultaneously also relatively tough and robust. We use it for most of our wooden soles. The grain varies due to the process of the tree’s natural dieback, rendering each pair unique.

Poplar

Poplar timber is extremely light, but also more sensitive than alder or beech. We therefore only use it for our high platform soles, which otherwise would be too heavy.

Beech

Beech is very hard and robust and therefore also suitable for unusual designs like the Hopper sole.
