Penna

In accordance with the principles of a Moccasin-type construction, in the Penna collection soft leather uppers are sewn onto flexible sole units. This allows for an almost complete avoidance of solvent-based adhesive in the attachment of the sole. The sole, with its concave shape, offers maximum possible shock absorption, whereas the foot can shape its own anatomically formed insole. The production process, which is based on traditional handicraft, leads to variations of up to a few millimetres in size, so every shoe is unique.

The seams typical of a Moccasin-type construction have been developed further and perform a form-giving function. This renders additional reinforcements obsolete. The aim was to combine highest possible comfort, function and a new design as well as to simplify the manufacturing process in order to enable production in Germany at competitive prices.

Thanks to the stabilising effect of the raw seams the production of the Penna collection could be simplified so that it can be manufactured in Germany and still offered at competitive prices. The Men´s collection includes classic styles like Bloc or Round as well as more adventurous styles like Gecko or Mustafa.
The Womens Penna collection shows a variety of solutions for how raw seams can assume a stabilising function. Plain like in Plain or playful like in Schnecke or Made, the functional aspect also became a design feature in this Trippen development.
The construction of the Penna collection eliminates the need for traditional reinforcements. Instead the raw seams perform stabilising and contouring functions. The sources of inspirations range from reptile skins and medieval coats of armour, to Mongolian riding boots and the traditional clothing of Native Americans.
The sandals form an own group among the Penna collection. With their asymmetric cuts, narrow straps or wide-open lacings they meet the desire for light and summery models.
