The shoes should be worn only every third day so in between the leather can dry completely. Constant use can damage the shoes and reduce their life span drastically.
Be sparing with shoe care products! For the Closed collection please use matching shoe polish on a weekly basis to maintain the rim of the shoe. Also small marks and scratches can be treated with matching shoe polish. For everything else: Less is more! Leather as such contains substances to protect the material. We recommend the use of "Collonil Ultra neutral" once in a while for all plain leathers and the rim of the Closed shoes. For all nubuk leather please apply neutral waterproofing spray before wearing the shoes the first time. Leather food cannot be recommended as it blocks the pores and stops the leather from breathing. The use of shoe polish can also lead to changes in colour, especially when used on vegetable tanned leather.
With all leather dye can come out on both sides. Therefore please do not wear light coloured socks and take extra care with your clothing.

All leather can stretch. When buying your shoes please make sure that they are neither too loose nor too tight. Always wear the shoes with socks of the same thickness. In case the shoes get wet, please allow them to dry slowly and evenly and make sure that they keep their shape by using a suitable shoetree. The use of shoetrees is not recommended for soft leather as they may stretch the leather.
All types of leather with shiny surfaces like batik, shrunken (srk), metallic soft (sft) or shiny buffalo (bug) or sheepskin (pek) and thin patent (ven) are extremely sensitive to scratches and abrasions. Please take extra care with these materials, especially in the case of children's shoes. Any such damages to the surface cannot be repaired.
Our elk or soft goatskin leather are very soft and can stretch quite substantially with time. When buying the shoes please make sure that they fit correctly. All pub leathers have been treated with a large amount of oil. Please make sure that this leather does not come in contact with your clothing as it might leave stains.
All leather where the fur has not been removed during the tanning process (mon, cap) may be damaged by friction and wear off. Surface dirt should be brushed off carefully.
The uppers of our wooden shoes are made from leather and can stretch. In case the uppers have stretched please return them for repair immediately as otherwise they do not offer enough support and accidents cannot be ruled out.
