Production Wood

There are six basic steps that need to be taken to turn wood, rubber and leather into a pair of Trippen shoes. Each of these stages involves a further series of steps. These steps find their basis in traditional craft techniques. Our production technique combines this traditional craftsmanship with modern design and industrial production. Our wooden shoes are produced in our factory just north of Berlin.

The raw soles are made in Germany and Hungary and delivered to our factory. The rubber soles are cut and glued to the raw soles, which are then sanded. The leather uppers are cut, skived and stitched together. The completed uppers are nailed by hand to the wood soles. Because of the irregularity of the nails, this cannot be done by a machine. In the finish department the shoes go through a final check and traces from the production process are removed.
