By prioritizing local manufacturing and minimizing marketing overhead,
we support small-scale industry and uphold a socially responsible business model.

Production

Trippen’s entire production takes place in Zehdenick, Brandenburg, just 60 kilometers north of Berlin. Here, design and manufacturing operate side by side, reflecting our product-centered approach and allowing for a seamless exchange between concept and craftsmanship.
By producing in-house, we’re able to manufacture on demand—minimizing waste while maintaining flexibility and the highest standards of quality. This hands-on model gives us complete oversight of each step in the development process and ensures ethical management of our production team—an increasingly rare distinction in today's fashion industry.

We carefully source our leathers from small, family-run tanneries in Tuscany, where traditional craftsmanship, ecological methods, and fair labor practices remain central. Our commitment to ethical production extends beyond materials, encompassing fair wages and safe, respectful working conditions for everyone involved.
By prioritizing local manufacturing and minimizing marketing overhead, we support small-scale industry and uphold a socially responsible business model. Trippen proves that exceptional design and ethical practices are not only compatible—but stronger together.

In 2022, we took a major step forward by installing solar panels
across all our rooftops, enabling a full transition to clean energy.

Facility

Our facility in Zehdenick strikes a thoughtful balance between tradition and innovation, in line with Trippen’s core values of environmental and social responsibility.
In 1998, we revitalized the town’s former GDR-era shoe factory, bringing local craftsmanship back into focus.
True to our philosophy, we’ve approached renovations selectively—updating only where and when necessary to preserve both the character and resources. In 2022, we took a major step forward by installing solar panels across all our rooftops, enabling a full transition to clean energy.

Today, we generate 100% renewable power, producing nearly three times more than we consume. Our machines now run entirely on self-produced electricity.
To further support sustainability in daily life, we’ve added four electric vehicle charging stations for our team, encouraging the shift toward cleaner mobility.
These measures reflect our continued commitment to sustainability and responsible manufacturing.

Fair wages and good working conditions are our top priority,
as is the promotion of social inclusion.

People

At Trippen, our business philosophy is grounded in making a genuine, positive impact on the local community—never compromising on safety, fairness, or the well-being of our team. Fair wages and good working conditions are our top priority, as is the promotion of social inclusion. Health and safety are central to how we work. That’s why since the nineties we’ve replaced solvent-based glue with water-based alternatives throughout almost the entire production process—except for the soling phase, where solvent-based glue is still necessary for technical reasons. This transition wasn’t easy; water-based glue requires longer drying times and has a shorter open time for assembly. Still, the health benefits made it worthwhile. As CEO Michael Oehler recalls: "From the very beginning, I was skeptical of solvent glue. In fact, I had already started installing handmade suction systems in my workshop, long before Trippen. When we moved production to Zehdenick, better water-based glues became available. It still took a few more years to convince the team to switch, but ultimately, the priority was clear: health comes first."

Another cornerstone of our approach is our commitment to gender equality. At Trippen, fairness means equal rights and opportunities—not special treatment. Around three-quarters of our administration team is made up of women, and on the design and production side, leadership is evenly shared between female and male team leaders. We believe responsibility and potential should be accessible to everyone, regardless of gender. Equal pay is not a goal—it’s a given. We also understand that work and family life need to coexist. That’s why maternity leave at Trippen can last as long as needed, and both mothers and fathers are supported in adapting their working hours to their family’s needs. We’re not perfect, but we strive to stay thoughtful, flexible, and honest in how we do business.

In recognition of our initiatives, we received Trippen’s 2018 Brandenburg Integration Award.

Intergration

Social integration has always been a sensitive and important topic for us. That is why we have consistently taken an active role in creating opportunities for those caught in exceptional global circumstances.

In the 1990s, migrants fleeing the Balkan Wars were welcomed into our workforce, bringing much of the energy and drive that helped shape our young company.
During other times of crisis, Trippen employed Afghan refugees, to whom we offered German language courses twice a week.
Similar efforts were extended to refugees from Somalia and Syria—initiatives that were recognized with Trippen’s 2018 Brandenburg Integration Award.
